Default Preschooling from home

Hi all.. I heard about this idea about an online preschool. Its for parents who homeschool and those that want to control the quality of education their children recieve. What do you think? Would it be something you would consider?

I never sent my daughter to a preschool. She is now 7, and doing very well at school. I probably wouldn't bother with the online preschool either, I feel I can manage the quality of education my kids receive anyway. I think I educated my daughter well

I would never pay for an online preschool. It's a waste IMO when they learn so much through play.

You asked about this before, and got pretty much the same answer.

Are you developing an online preschool, or working for one? Are you creating buzz spam, trying to sell us something? You haven't really described what it is you are asking about, and frankly, it sounds kooky.

Why anyone would sit their kid in front of the computer instead of going to the park or the sandbox is beyond me. Preschool is live, social, tactile, physical. Definitely not a cyber experience.

Exactly. I thought this question sounded familiar but I didn't remember until you posted that it had been asked before.

I have nothing against my preschool aged child using the internet or computer, don't get me wrong. But, I feel that I have enough programs here, and the child certainly wouldn't need an online preschool

I couldn't imagine sticking a preschooler in front of a computer for longer than 5-10 min a day. As it is, I never put my little ones in front of a computer until they were in K.

The little ones should be investigating the real world and learning from experience and interactions w/ real people, not from a computer screen and a mouse.

I disagree. Children can learn much from computers, in moderation. Computer literacy is important, in my opinion. Just because a child is computer literate from a young age, does not mean they miss out on interaction in the real world.

Computer literacy is important. . .but does it really have to come at 3 or 4? I think it's over rated honestly. Basic computer literacy is just not that hard. And the things that they will need to know later. . .are generally taught later. I'm not opposed to little ones on the computer at all, but I tend to think too that there's so much more for them to experience that yields a much richer developmental experience. Really, a computer is a very limited learning tool.

Hi again all.. I appreciate your comments. Mcmama.. I'm not working for a preschool or trying to sell anything. I'm curious. I'm very interested in addressing problems and one problem is that many children don't have access to preschool programs so I thinking through ideas and I wanted some input. Many people value homeschooling and I think that it can be a very effective method of teaching, so I thought would a online preschool where kids could watch a "lesson" help? Making it interactive would enable parents to learn where there children need more help. I had no intention of offending anyone by asking the question but your input is much appreciated.
