She grabs her inner thighs and private area especially when she has a bath or gets a diaper change. Everything looks fine, no rash or redness. Should I take her to the doctor? I had kidney reflux and several of my cousins did too. My mom never knew I had a bladder infection until there was blood in my urine. She seems fine but I always worry too much. I think she has just discovered herself or maybe the diaper is irritating her since she is crawling? What age do they usually discover themselves?
It's very normal... Every baby touches themselves. It's not necessarily an indication that something's wrong. My Emma has done that for about two months now. She's just discovered something other than her toes... lol
Kenzie found her girl part around 5 months. She STILL grabs at it during diaper changes and if she doesn't have pants on she can actually un-do her diaper from all the grabbing she does! Totally normal!
Touching is normal. Even when there is no irritation.
About kidney reflux, watch out for infections and spiking high temps. That was a symptom for my son with the ureter blockage and bladder infection (at 6 weeks) and for one of my daycare girls with kidney reflux at 3 years. If she has a high temp, mention this history to your doctor.
I had asked my mom about it over the weekend and she was horrified and said she never remembered my brother and me discovering ourselves! So then I started to get worried. It is reassuring to hear it is normal.
Jae is almost 3 and STILL plays down there. She gets VERY red from doing so. Its been a bad habit to break...and yes horrifying for Mommy. The ped said its normal (checked everything out for me) They just know what feels "good" haha
