Default Problems with HTML

Hi. I am managing a few different blogs and am having problems with my html on families only. I have used the same html as on my other blogs, but it inserts funny symbols and the photos disappear. On the preview it looks great, except that what is centered becomes aligned to the left. But when I save it everything becomes completely wacko. Is there some trick to get basic html to work on this site?

Here is an example of a pic I tried to post with the html. What am I doing wrong? The apostrophe will become a diamond with a question mark inside and the rest of it becomes gobbly gook.

I'll give you the coding but DONT preview...we have a glitch and it won't work if you preview.

You almost had it...the red is what you need..if you want to center use thesebrackets [] not <>. HTH

Default I only see "Preview"

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your help. I know how to write basic code for photos, and how to format text and all the simple stuff. That's not the problem. I manage a number of blogs on multiple other sites (myspace, blogger, typepad, livejournal...) and am only having problems here on my journal. The same html that works everywhere else, doesn't work here. And all my apostrophes also turn into those symbols. (On the sample that I included the "<center>" and "</center>" was to center the photo. The "<br>" is in order to have the title of the photo "Robin's Egg Wreath" appear on the next line. )

The problem must be that preview glitch you are talking about. I wish I could just post it without previewing, but all I can find is a link to "Cancel" or a link to "Preview." There is no link on the Add Journal Entry page to save it, post it or upload it until you first click on Preview. At least none that I can see. Am I missing something? Please help.

Thank you,
Jennifer

p.s. I am going to try to change all of my "<>" to "[] to see if that helps...I'll keep you posted.

Ok. I tried changing the "<>" and "</>" to "[]" and "[/]" and it was a little different, but still didn't work. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong. I've never used those brackets before. Do you write the code exactly the same? I don't get it.

I see...may I ask you a question? Are you trying to advertise your business in your journal? I ask as according to our TOU our forum does not allow adverising. You may however post a link in your signature line.

If you are just posting pictures..you need to upload them to your photos. Then you can use the photos that have been uploaded in your journal. HTH

Default Ohhhh.

Thank you for your help. I'll just do it that way...upload images. I was trying to repost the entries from our other blogs, the ones my sister and I write for the family business and newsletter, but now that I know the restrictions, I will only post the stories, recipes and craft projects and not the product updates or anything like that which could be seen as advertising. Thanks for the heads up and all the help. I really appreciate it.

Um. Hi. Sorry to bug you again, but I just posted a journal entry...a personal story from my childhood and there are a bunch of silly symbols in it. It's whenever I use punctuation, like apostrophe's. Do you know how to get around that problem? I've noticed it on a bunch of other people's journal too and someone asked that question in a thread on the forum a long time ago, but there was no answer.
