Default Problems with my K-Mart

I am having some issues with the only K-Mart around here for 50 miles. I have raised issues with management on two occassions, and last night I called their corporate offices. They are engaging in deceptive business practices on a pandemic basis. Shelf tags do not match scanned prices, I would be suprised if even one item in my cart that was on sale matched the shelf tag. They have expired marketing materials all over the store. They keep putting up signs advertising bogus sales (50% off toys today only, it was their old clearance items moved to a new display in front, not marked down any more from the clearance price already on there, and most not even 50% off), permanent 70% off jewelry sale (I would say after two years of continuos sale, there is no sale, it is just their regular price and they are decieveing people).
I reported all of this. I just had one more issue, and I need some advice on this one.
They are refusing to take any coupon with an amount in excess of the price of the product. Example:
Febreze Scent Stories Player Disk: .25, my coupon was for .50, they refused to accept it
AdvanEdge Bars .40 each, my coupons were for .50 each, they refused to accept them.

Can they do that? Can I report them for it? Are they violating any rules? Is there anyone I can/should contact regarding this?

Thank you!

angelaira~ You have just described my Kmart to a Tee!!
I'm angry at myself everytime I leave that store because it is a huge waste of time. If someone comes along with any advice for you, I'm certainly going to take it too! I have contacted planetfeedback.com and gotten a response from the temporary manager. My store was cleaned up (my major complaint) but the rest of the stuff was still the same ole k-r-a-p

Kmart=big losers!

I had a long discussion with K-Mart corporate last night about my store. I explained to them that the marketing strategies are deceptive, and that they are alienating most customers intelligent enough to be offended by their tactics. I told them I shop there because it is the only place to get certain items (Martha Stewart stuff, coupon deals, lol!) but I am increasingly more and more embarrassed to admit it. The store is directly across the street from a Target, and the Target store is clean, beautiful, like every other Target. The K-Mart feels like WWIII. Dirty, nasty broken carts everywhere, blocked aisles, and I am not even addressing those issues with the management. I am just tired of going in there and seeing huge signs for sales that aren't sales. Even worse, they announce the 70% off jewelry sale over the intercom every half hour. Like if somebody shops there once a week, they won't realize their jewelry is always on 70% off clearance. It is insulting to me to go in there, so I make it a point now to raise issues with management every time I see one worth raising. I am going to continue my tireless tirade of calls to corporate and reaming managers until they stop it! (or ban me from shopping there, lol!). The consumer line I called last night told me they had recieved numerous complaints already about my store, specifically about shelf tags not matching register prices. When I asked the clerk ringing me up why the items were ringing up full price, he told me the discount would come off at the end of the transaction. Either he had no idea, or he was lying. Can't prove which one, but either way, it was wrong information.
Anyway, happily, all the signs and traces of that toy sale are gone. Everything was removed the day after I reamed the assistant manager. That guy was shaking and trembling while I was talking to him, like he was afraid, or really angry. I was a military interrogator, so I am not a very fun person to have an in depth conversation with if things aren't going your way. He told me I was an "angry person". I almost laughed in his face, but I held it in.
Oh, and peelies from Sally Hansen products I got last night while I was there, were mostly expired! They had just put them on the floor, and all the peelies expired in December. Gotta love K-Mart!!!!

Oh, and no, they didn't say "up to 50% off", they said "select toys 50% off Today". That to me indicates that I am seeing a sale that will not be there tomarrow, and that wasn't there yesterday. It indicates temporary, not month long. It indicates I better buy it now or risk missing out, and that is why it is deceitful. Those toys were all sitting in the clearance section of the toy department since post-Christmas. Some of them were 50% off, but most were not. They just moved them to the front of the store, stuck big green signs on them, and tried to fool people into thinking it was a special sale, when in reality it was just a last-ditch effort to try and get rid of clearance toys without lowering prices further. They didn't even check the tags on the toys to see what percentage they were at, just threw them up there.

I received a phone call from the new store manager a couple of days ago. He told me that my complaints had been heard loud and clear, and that changes are being made. He told me that as the new store manager, he is trying to make it a respectable store, but he has his work cut out for him, and he thanked me for my help, because now the district manager is aware of what is going on. He said the jewelry sale is a K-Mart corporate directive, so if you want to see some changes at your K-Mart, go to their website, find the "contact us" number, it is manned 24/7, and tell them your issues. They do listen, and if enough of us call and tell them how much we dislike their dishonest tactics, maybe we can get all of the K-Marts to change!

Default Update!

I have to say, I was in this same K-Mart store yesterday, and it is totally different. Every shelf tag matched the sale price, even on items that were being reported on FW as being unmarked nationwide. All tearpads were posted and up to date, the ailes were clean, it was amazing the difference! The jewelry sale from two years ago is STILL going on, but there are no more announcements over their intercom system. There was a coupon that printed on my receipt advertising that bogus sale as well, lol! Anyway, complaining can and will make a difference, so don't be afraid to voice your concerns and make people understand what needs to be improved upon!
Apparently I made a difference at Walgreens here as well. The new store I walked into about a month ago shocked me. Where they all used to be totally anti-couponing, this store had a makeup and beauty associate who helped me by actually giving me coupons for items in my cart that she had on her counter. Where I had been actually kicked out of a store for couponing, I am nbow apparentl welcomed with open arms. I don't think the Walgreens around here missed the fact that the sales in the store I used to always coupon in had a damatic drop in numbers after I quit shopping there. Nice to see that work I did two years ago can benefit me now that I am newly single and supporting my son on my own!
