I have to do a reading at my bil wedding tomorrow, and I'm scared out of my mind! I have the rehersal tonight and don't want to go.
Any advice on how to get through this??

Since you are reading, it is not like you are speaking your own words.
Enjoy the rehearsal. Get very familiar with the passage you are about to read, and read it several times to yourself. Practice it tonight, and practice out loud.
What are you supposed to read?

I hate public speaking too. You can always try the old "picture everyone in their underware" trick. Seriously, just relax, you will do great!

When I have had to do this before, I put the passage in Word,
then leave spaces for natural pauses and at the end of the sentences.
example:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Better this way with pauses and emphasis:
"Love is patient,
love is kind.
It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects,
always trusts,
always hopes,
always preserves."
-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

When I was president of the church women's group, I was really afraid of the prayers. The minister and I had a deal, he would write the prayers for me (in ladies' style) and with everybody closing their eyes, I would then be able to say the prayer and do just fine.
We had big events sometimes weekly, sometimes bi-weekly,
so by the end of a couple of months, I became much more
comfort in public speaking.
Pausing and speaking slowly, enunciating are all valuable tools
of speaking in public and using a microphone.

I did it! I'm sure it sounded fine...no one was really there hear me speak more for the wedding! But I did ok. I felt myself mess up a couple of times. I'm glad it is over.
Janet...it was a reading from the book of Tobit.
