I have a quick question. I have a credit card that i get points for using at drugstores. My husband needs a new lawn mower at lowes, so can i use a credit card at cvs to buy about 1000.00 worth of Lowes gift cards?? I thought i remembered somewhere someone said you had to pay cash for gift cards. Or it may have been phone cards, can't remember. But this would be great if i can do it because the way i figure, i'll get about 25.00 for the points if i can use the credit card. Any help would be apprecitated!

I don't know if you if CVS excepts credit cards on gift card purchases, but gift cards don't count towards your 2% bonus ECB. Why don't you just use the credit card at Lowes, or better yet support your local business person and buy the mower from an independent dealer. The prices are the same, it will be properly set-up, if you have problems you'll have preference over the machines bought at Lowes, etc, and they probably take credit cards also.

Wow, what a great idea! I just recently applied for credit card with rewards for gas, groceries and drugstores. I have been reading all the fine print and I don't see how they could tell that it is a gift card purchase as long as it is coded as a purchase from a qualifying drugstore. Since I haven't started using this card yet I have no exeperience with what stores qualify for the rewards. I live in Northern Ill. Your CVS sells Lowes gift cards??? I am going to look into this here. Hope this works! Regina

I bought gift cards at CVS for Christmas gifts. I was going to pay by check, but was told only cash or credit cards accepted for payment. Would be same thing for phone cards.

Also, Lowe's price matches. Look for other ad's like Sears and Home Depot. They price match plus add a percentage over that. Info is in the ad's or online. I did that recently with 3 new bathroom faucets we were getting. I printed out the product description and SKU etc, from online and they called Home Depot while I was there to verify, (have to do at Service Desk) and matched the price, plus I got the percent off, AND found a coupon at Lowes.com for something like $10 off $50. Wanted to do 3 seperate transactions but they wouldn't let me. They were about $160 each, but couldn't find a larger coupon discount. I did well, so didn't want to push my luck.

Must be a heck of a lawn mower at that price!! Good luck!

You can absolutely use cash or credit for gift cards! NO CHECKS!! The ones you can't use credit on are the reloadable Green Dot cards; like money orders you can only use cash for those.

Thanks everyone for anwering so quick! The card i'm using is a citicard rewards. I get 5 points for every dollar i spend at drugstores, gas stations, and grocery stores. Plus, they gave me a 100.00 gift card for signing up. I've had this card for about a year, but i've seen where they advertise still. But i have noticed that they are now offering only 1 point per dollar. But i don't read every offfer close, so maybe they are still doing the 5 points too. I'd just check the coupon inserts and see if i could find one that offers 5.

I LOVE this card. It doesn't take long to get 100.00 gift cards. You have to get 10,000 points, but that really doesn't take long to get when you use it for everything like i do. I just make sure i pay it off at the end of the month. I actually write it down in my check book, just like it was a debit card. That way i'm still keeping track of what i spend. But i usually average about 100.00 every 3 months, so i'm pleased with it.

If i can help anyone, please let me know! I think i have some of the 1 point offers so i could pm you the offer code.

oh, just fyi, i've seen the lowes gift cards at rite aid also, so if anyone is needing one they are there also. But my CVS has a wonderful selection of gift cards. Everything from red lobster to JC Penney!!
