Default Question about Fifth Disease...

Today i noticed lucas' cheeks getting slapped and red, like when he had fifth disease in December. I know its not good to be around it, but its hard not to since he is my son and Im with him 24/7. Im not out of my first trimester yet and I read that it could affect the fetus!

What should I do? Im thinking of going to the doctors tomorrow to check if he does have it for sure or not. But should I still try to keep my distance now that he has the rash already? Am i just being too paranoid?

i would call the pediatrician in the morning (and maybe your doctor as well and explain the situation, just to be on the safe side)...i dont think you are being paranoid--i would be feeling the same way!

Does he just have a red cheek or does he have a rash elsewhere? Everytime Libby teeths she looks like someone smacked her and she gets a slight temperature. Could it be he's teething?

Chances are, if your little guy had it before, then you are immune. But I would double-check with the pedi to be sure that is what it is.

He cut a tooth lastnight after I noticed the slapped cheeks, when he was sick with it before he had slapped cheecks for 3 days before the rash appeared and so far its been only 1 day.. well on the 2nd day... But it could also be because he cut a tooth... Its also hard to tell cause he does have a cold. but thankfully no rash yet!

I don't think you can get it more than once, so it is probably just from teething. Here is some more info that states that you become immune after you have had it once.
