question about first duty assignment
Hello All,
I am new to this site and have been looking for somewhere to connect with other Air Force wives. My husband is in the AF and is currently in Texas. He's graduated from basic and from tech school, but does not have his orders yet. Hopefully he'll have them soon. He is in Fuels. I was wondering how the process of getting to your first duty station works. We're going to Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. It is considered overseas so I know that they'll take care of moving our card and all that. But do they come and pack us? When we get to the base up there I think that we will be in a hotel. How long does it take our stuff to get up there after us? That is really important because I have a 5 month old and there are things that we definatly need quickly. I can go without things for myself but of course having a baby requires quite a few things.
Once we get up there will someone show us around. And I've heard that there's a place that you can 'borrow' things from, is that true? Anyway I'm sure that I have about a billion other questions but these are the main few.
