Hi, I am a Marine Corps wife and my husband has been in for 12 years. They will come and pack your stuff and it usually doesn't take too long, but you are going to Alaska, so I'd plan for the worst. When we recently moved from NC to Ohio, I pretty much packed most of my then 8 month old's clothes and her pack and play just in case it took a while for the truck to get here. Luckily they were here a day after us and we didn't need everything I packed, but I'd over pack just to be safe. Your husband has to coordinate with TMO(who moves you). He should be given all these instructions from his command. I'm not sure what place you are referring to about borrowing things, so can't help you there, but you will meet other wives when you are there, so it's good to stay connected with them. Hope this helps...
