Question about internet & cable
My internet is the type that works through the cable...so I've had cable for awhile and never really had a problem with both working at the same time...but suddenly today my internet is working fine (all the lights are lit and I am here) but my tv is just showing snow!? How is the internet working but not the cable?! I don't get it

well...no because the only reason its hooked up is for internet so we're not buying cable..(we've got a splitter to attach it to the tv too)..and the internet is working. The cable was working.....we've had it like this for 2 months and never had a problem.

Then it is the actual cabel that is not working.. Your cable company has nothing to do with that. You should see if you need to get a new cable line for your TV or a new splitter.
We have Cable phone, internet and TV. They are all linked together....if one goes they all go, as the company has them hooked up that way.

I took the cable that I know works and connected it directly to the TV and nothing...just snow but that same cable works when connected to the black box for internet. It used to work for the TV too because that's how they checked to make sure it worked! SO I was wondering....do you think they changed something that would make it not work on a regular tv? Do you think it might have something to do with this switch to hd that's supposed to happen by next year?

it's possible that they came around and put a "cap" on your cable, so it only does internet. OR it could be loose outside. our cable hookup outside is near our electic meter, have you checked it?

I live in an apartment and have no idea where on the building it is...and if I do by chance find it....I won't know which is mine.
It really stinks...because if I could afford to buy it I would but we're struggling to just pay for rent and such...Internet is cheaper (only 29 a month) than cable thats why we have this. I need some form of entertainment but the computer just isn't all that entertaining anymore.

I hear your problem. We have had a similar issue before. We have the TV and internet on the cable together, split.
I 'think' somebody has accidently hit some limiting buttons on the tv.
Open up that little hidden box of buttons to determine it.
TV/Video limits/language/channels. You'll figure out which little button you need to hit on the tv.
Good luck!
