Question about next week
Okay, I've been all over Google and can't find the answer to this one, so I figured I should check in with the real experts here. I need to buy formula by the end of the month. Is CVS (or Walgreens?) putting it (preferably Similac) on sale next week? (I know it's not BOGO or ECB associated or anything, I'm just looking for a normal sale.) If it's not I think I'll have to get it this week at the . . . grocery store . . .

I do not know the answer to your question but just so you know, there is supposed to be a $1 off coupon for similac in this Sundays paper and I know you can use it with the "checks" that come from similac. Best of luck to you. Also, I had to use Isomil for my son and I started buying the WalMart generic kind. He seemed to prefer it and it was $13.97 for the large can vs. $21-$22 for the large can of similac. I figured even with the $5 checks from Similac it was still cheaper to get the generic. You might want to give something like that a try.

I just saw that! At least Walgreens has it on sale. . . .and I can use the G.C.s from their recent deals. I'd still be happier to buy it at CVS, but at least I won't have to resort to the grocery store. (Thanks for the hint on Target/Walmart too. I'm kind of new to the formula game. Right now I'm only using about a can a month (sometimes supply isn't keeping up with demand, KWIM?))

I totally agree with the posts about the store brands. I only used Similac with my first child, but when my second was born I asked my doctor about the store brands. She said that since baby formula was so highly regulated by the FDA that any brand would be okay. My daughter is allergic to milk so I had to use the soy formula, but I just about always bought the Target brand (unless I had a high dollar amount "check" for another brand). The Target brand was about half the price of the Similac.

I don't know where you are, but I'm in VA and shop at Food Lion a lot for my groceries. I always get a catalina for $3/$15 baby purchase every time I shop which I use towards the Similac, plus I use a $3 manu coupon for each can of powder. The small can of powder is $13.49. They quit carrying the large can at my store. So I pay $17.98 for 2 can of formula.

Hey - totally off-topic for the CVS board, but the more you supplement, the more difficulties you'll have with supply. Just nurse, nurse, nurse, and your body will up the production for ya. Visit an LLL group for support!

I totally agree with you there! DD1 was exclusively bf (hence the reason I'm pretty bad at the formula game ) DD2 has a cleft lip/palate so it's all pumping all the time and it's been a struggle pretty much from day one. However, she's five months old and we've only gone through one can of formula, so that's not too bad. . . and now to link this back to CVS . . . Does anybody know if their "off brand" (don 't remember the name) formula is a CVS brand? Got to do something with all of those 2.50/10 CVS coupons

Hmm... We got our insurance company to cover the hypoallergenic formulas for 2/3 of our kids... (I dont know about cheapest, in the long run, but we didnt even have to pay a deductible) (and for those that need help with that, PM me...)
(and now, I'll refrain from posting, because these threads just frighten me)
