Question About Tubal Ligation
For those of you that have had it done, did your cycle become drastically different? Weight issues? Regret?
I had my tubal surgery on January 18th this year. My cycle has gone back to pre-children clockwork 28 day cycles but the flow is crazy. The first two days is so heavy that I tend to have accidental bleed through episodes. I'm changing my pad every 1-2 hours. Then on Day 3 I have a normal medium flow but monster sized clots. Like quarters and half dollars in size. Day 4 is light flow with small clots about the size of eraser shavings. Day 5 is spotting and then it starts all over again the next month.
My mother's cycle went completely screwy after her tubal surgery. Within 5 years her cycle reversed itself. 3 weeks of the ultra heavy bleeding like I have been experiencing and only 1 week off and even then she started having spotting during that week. She got to a point of near death. Her body could no longer make anymore of it's own blood. They did a D&C the day after her collapse but within 3 months all the bleeding was back so she had to have a hysterectomy. She was just shy of 35 yrs old. I really don't want it to get to that point. I also don't to have a hysterectomy but I will if I must. I'll be 28 in August and I'm starting to question if I really wanted to take myself out of the gene pool. Hubby did too so it isn't like having more kids is a feasible option. I cannot fathom being void of a uterus by 30 at this point in my life.
I've been keeping track of my cycles since they started back up after Gabe's birth. I wasn't a lucky one that gets to skip cycles just because of breastfeeding. If nothing has changed by the 6th cycle I am planning to talk to my gyno about what to do next. I'd really hate to get back on the pill just to tone down my flow. I didn't pay nearly 2000 for permanent birth control just to end up on a temporary one again.
So please ladies I would like to hear your experiences with tubal ligation and its effects on you.
