Default Question for a Friend

I have a question for a friend of mine...

Two cycles ago, a friend of mine got 4 BFP, and 2 BFN. She assumed she was PG, since false positives are rare. Last month she got what she thought was her period (she hadn't been to the doc yet, as it was still early). The bleeding was not heavy, just spotting (which I told her I thought could be implantation, or any other common pregnancy bleeding). She took another test and got a BFN. Again with this cycle she got some bleeding, right when her period was supposed to be.

She went to the doc and they wouldn't give her a blood test! Doc said absolutely not! Doc's test turned up BFN. (So did the digital she took last night). I assume she had a miscarriage a month or two ago. I'm wondering why the doc wouldn't do a blood test, or even pelvic exam???? She was angry. I gave her the number to my great OB. I told her that the doc should at least given her an exam. And a blood test.. Right?? Is it too late to detect a miscarriage? I'm so angry and sad and confused for her because not being "in the know" really sucks!

What do you guys think? Should she get a second opinion? Or just leave it be? She got 4 BFP before! I thought that was reason enough for the doc to do something more.
