question for all the mommys
Did you use a baby laundry detergent like Dreft or did you use normal laundry soap. Everyone in my family just used the normal detergent but my Dr is suggesting that we use Dreft for at least 6 months due to possible allergic reactions. Is it worth buying a different detergent or should you just use what you normally do. BTW DH and I both have NO allergies.

Do either of you have skin sensitivities. . . like eczema? I did not use it. . .until one of my kids got eczema fairly badly. . .then I switched and it didn't help one iota. So I discovered ways to treat the eczema and that was that. I don't think it really matters all that much.

I use normal detergent...I think that if your child end up with a rash from the det then later on you can change...but if the 2 of you have no allergies the chance of the babe having none are small.

I just wanted to see what you other moms thought. I went to walmart today just to look around at some stuff we plan on getting and saw how expensive Dreft was. I have no skin problems at all and DH has psorasis but that isnt affected by laundy soap and normally doesnt appear until your a little older. I personally thought it would be ok to use normal soap just wanted to check. Is it safe to use Fabric Softner like Downy on baby clothes?

I do use regular laundry soap for Conner's clothes, however I would hesitate to use the fabric softener...imo, it's a little "stronger" than soap, especially the fragrance, and I think that would be what would cause skin irritation (the fragrance). Regular soap, though, most likely will be fine.

It's fine to use fabric softener as well. We don't always and my kids find their unsoftened clothing more irritating than the softener. If she shows any sensitivities then obviously you would just stop and relaunder but it's very likely fine.

Two weekends ago, I washed everything that I had so far for Parker, such as all the blankets, and all the clothes people had gotten so far & stuff like that...maybe I'm too overly prepared haha. Anyways....I used Dreft, and I really liked it. It didn't really have a smell, but it definitly got the clothes clean, as some had been used. All the colors were brighter, and the fabrics were very soft! I don't know if you have to use it, and I know it is expensive, but so far I've gotten 4 sample sizes, which each do one load, 4 $1 coupons, and my mom bought me a bottle at Target for $5.49 I think. I'm wondering about the Baby Oxy....Is that safe to use?
