Default Question on Weight

Ok so my dr said that he was surprised at how much Jaxon weighs. I wasnt too worried about it as he actually gained. But the Dr said it is great that he gained but most babies dont gain that much in a week. Jaxon gained 11 ounces from his birth weight and 15 ounces from his discharge weight. The dr asked me if I was feeding Jaxon formula. I am not I am exclusively breastfeeding. So basically my question is if you were exclusively breastfeeding was your baby smaller or bigger at their one week check up? And if they had gained/lost how much

Gabby gained about 500 grams (they recommend 150-200 grams) from her discharged weight a week and she didn't lose very much weight from her birth to her discharge either... i say that your mummy milk is doing great

3 of mine grew like weeds on mummy milk! Jack was 7lb 4oz on discharge and 13lb 6oz at his 6 week check. Your just doing a great job!!!

They stay tiny for such a small time. I have 5 and the rate they grow still surprizes me.

I had one baby who was HUGE with rolls and rolls of fat. Ironically, that was the baby who was exclusively breastfed for longest. The rest of my babies were skinny minny banana babies who gained barely what they're supposed to.

My niece was formula fed and she was below the 50th percentile for her age for a pretty long while. I'm no expert on what breast milk does for a bbay but from seeing what formula did to her I'd imagine formula certainly wouldn't make a baby gain much weight hah.

Heeheehee... that's awesome Kristin! Gabriel dropped to 6lbs9oz before we left the hospital -- I bf him exclusively, and he was of the rubber-band-wrist variety in no time lol. My dr and the lactation consultant were thrilled with his weight gain -- but then again, the LC always said I produced enough milk to feed three babies!

I don't think any of mine really lost weight after birth and they gained weight right away. We called them butter balls because of the rolls on their thighs they did well on mommies milk.
You are doing a wonderful job and I am sure he will slow down and gain at an even pace. He is adorable by the way.
