I only gave Aiden pear or prune juice when Aiden started food..and only if he hadn't had a BM for a few days. I only introduced Juice to him a few months ago...he gets fruit and veggie juice.

I think its a little young right now to intorduce him to this...juice has empy calories and its not something he really needs right now...but once he starts eating you may (if you feel like it) slowly introduce him to it

We give Norah an oz of pear juice with an oz of warm water when she is constipated- but that's pretty much it. We don't want to introduce juice in terms of larger quantities/part of a meal until she is at least a year old- we're going to start giving her water in a sippy cup at 6 months.

I honestly would avoid it as long as possible (unless little Jaxon becomes constipated- a small amount can help with this), since as Lessly mentioned it is empty calories and a lot of unneeded sugar. That, and once introduced you run the risk of them refusing plain water because it's not sweet.

We let Scarlet taste juice when she was about 9 months old. I would mix 1 part juice with about 5 parts water, so it was really watered down. Now she gets juice every once in awhile, maybe one or twice a month. I don't really think kids should be drinking juice, but DF wants her to have it. We compromise.

I agree with Jadis with regards to the constipation. . .but it's pretty rare for a bf fed baby to get constipated. I agree with the other ladies that it's a little too early. Introducing foods other than bm (since you're bfing), can cause a host of problems including serious allergies (or so it is thought), and a leaky gut. But here's the real reason he shouldn't have anything besides bm right now. It can actually cause malnutrition. . .I'm sure he didn't give him enough to cause problems. So I don't mean to scare you. But bm is the food and nutrition that your baby needs and putting water or juice or anything else in his belly will take up the space he needs for good nutrition.

With that said, we don't do juice until after they can hold a cup on their own or juice box on their own because of the high sugar content.

i did give aiyana juice till we introduced the cup at 6mos and even then she really didnt get more than maybe a mouth full plus it was water so much i doubt she could really taste it. she does get 2 cups(4oz juice, 4oz water) a day now but its more for the extra calories and something different from milk

My hubby also was big on giving Kate things like lemons, pickles, and mustard to taste just to see the faces she would make.
