It was around the time when our sons were 4 and 6 that both of our careers were really starting to take off. We both received significant promotions within months of each other that, despite their many benefits, put a severe damper on our opportunities to spend quality time with our children.
And then came the
nanny screening service and so on and so forth...
We had an aversion to nanny's, which is probably why we were so critical in selecting one when the situation demanded we do so (perhaps we, and many others, just watch too many movies). But, nonetheless, this arrangement, and this nanny, has been working out very well for everyone; even our sons are enjoying it a great deal.
So, in essence, if you find yourself constrained in the way we were, definitely consider
looking for a nanny and do not reject the possibility outright because of a few bad instances sensationalized by the media (no one would be parents if we constantly heard about the maltreatment some parents, unfortunately, bring upon their children). It's a viable option to consider.
Does anyone else have a similar tale...?
Happy Holidays!
