Default "2 baby sisters!" The twins are here

That's what my daughter, 2 yrs., would say when pointing at my belly, now she says it when pointing to her new baby sisters! Who arived on Tues. 25th.

I started going into labor Mon., it stopped at 4am, so I went walking with my doula in the morning and got it going again. At 1:30 I was 4cm, we went to my midwife's office. She said she thought we had a baby butt coming down first, but that the doctor on call that day was willing to deliver her breech butt first! Yaaaaaah!! I was sent home to get my things, and come back to the hospital to get monitored to "make sure I was in labor" and to get an ultra sound to make sure they were still in a safe position.

When I went on the monitors a 2:30 it was gettig harder to handle the contraction laying down. They checked me, I was at 5 cm.!! 2 hrs. later the Ultrasound person showed up and it was bad news. We had a footling breetch. No vaginal birth for me. My midwife came in a checked me, I was at 6 cm. She said because I was in active labor, we couldn't take the risk of letting me try to move around to get babys feet out of there. I would be too dangerous, she could kick and break my bag of waters, which was bulging, which could then allow the cord to come down first, scary!

so I took a few moments to cry at the loss of my natural birth. Took the very sureel walk down the hall to surgery.

But I snapped right out of it when I heard those girls cry! I didn't care how they got into my arms, just as long as they were safe and healthy. Which they both were.

They were both 19 1/2 inches. Footling was 6 lbs. 9 oz, lotsa hair was 6 1bs 10 oz. 2 days earlier I was told they were each over 7 lbs! I'm glad they both gained that extra lb. in the last month! Those ultrasounds can be off by a lb.

I almost made it 38wks, only one day shy! I'm so glad to have been able to bring my wonderful girls into this world safely, even if it wasn't they waterbirth at home I origanally wanted. That doesn't matter now. I'm just so happy to have them home, and so are their big brother and sister. And ofcourse my helpfull and supportive husband!
