I'm sure that someone has vented about this before, but I am so ****** annoyed with people right now, I have to get it off my chest!

When I was pregnant with my first, my husband and I had a hard time coming up with a name that we both liked. Eventually, we decided on Alexandria as a first name. We decided on this name about a week or two before Alex was born, and when we told our families that this was the name and it is set in stone, my sister-in-law had a fit!!! She was so angry that we "stole" her name, and didn't want to hear anymore about it! She isn't married or even thinking about having kids anytime soon (at that time, anyway) and she wasn't even dating anyone! Apparently she gave us a list of names that past June/July, (and this was December of 06!) and we weren't allowed to use any names off the list. To tell you the truth, I wasn't a fan of any of the names, so I didn't think twice about them. I must add, even though this list wasn't written down or anything, I know Alexandria was NOT on The List!

Ok so now I fast forward to December 2007/January of 2008.. DH and I find out we are expecting again, and once again, my sister in law, who still is not married, presented us with The List of names that we can't have, even though they aren't the same names as the first time around. Also, just recently I was discussing with my best friend a few possible name choices, and I mentioned Audrey, and she said, "Ohh I like Aubrey!" (Notice the difference in the names). I said that was a very pretty name and I'd never thought of it, and I think I'll mention it to DH! Holy pissed off girlfriend, was she angry that I dare steal a name from her list! (My friend is not even dating anyone, let alone, thinking about kids!)

What I want to know is, why in the hell do people I know feel like it's ok to impose "LISTS" upon me, and tell me I can't use any of the names??? I've become so angry with this subject, and I get heated when someone asks if we've thought of names yet! How can I think of names when I'm not allowed to use any freakin names in the book?

Does anyone else have a beef with this? I know this was a long post, but I feel like I have lots of points to make, you know? I think we are going to name the new baby Aubrey Jennifer Madison Logan Riley just to **** everyone off!
