Question Reading Military Blogs

Hi All,
I few days ago I wrote a blog article on the subject of President Bush recommending that the public read military blogs in order to get accurate information about the war. Here's the article for anyone interested.
While I was writing this article I read some military blogs and found them fascinating. Has anyone here ever read a military blog written by a soldier in Iraq and, if so, what did you think? Also, do you think that the news does an accurate job of reporting the happenings in Iraq?

I don't know if it will help the public understand the war or soldiers fighting it any better, but I guess one can hope. What I find incredible is that we CAN read what soldiers think, while it is going on. I mean in WWII, it might be months before a family was even informed of a son's death and I think I've seen shows where family said they said they went a long as a year no hearing from their loved one.

I've never read military blogs, but think it would be interesting. I wouldn't necessarily think it would give a true picture of the war or the validity of the reasons for starting the war. I don't depend on American news for that either. I think too much is skewed, either pro or against Bush. I watch international news to get a clearer picture of the larger world. I think American news broadcasts are seriously lacking in this department. They focus on ratings and sensationalism, covering certain stories to death while ignoring other critical information. There is a lot that goes on in the world that we either don't hear about or hear only limited coverage. Certain issues that are glossed over in the mainstream media are covered in depth in International news broadcasts. And we wonder why Americans know so little about the rest of the world?

most of this military blogs are so political onesided that i dont bother to read. You can figure out which party they belong to before they leave for deployment and they will go on write things in their political direction........

You don't bother to read them because the soldiers express their political views? Gosh, imagine someone that fights for their country's freedom having the nerve to use freedom of speech to voice their opinions.

Yep, because in America we only like free speech when the speaker agrees with our beliefs! If not, we want to shut him up!

you missunderstood me. I like to read blogs when they are really about what they do all day, not just political propaganda from whichever side, and a lot of the really popular militaery blogs are. I am an army spouse, i have military things surrounding me day by day. I see the pain of deployments, loss of a loved one and seperation everyday......
