Default Really really want to Homeschool, but

My sone is 27 mos. old. He's our first. Homeschool is what we had always planned, but he has a major Speech Delay. He says 5 words and is in intensive therapy for over 6mos. which will continue. My concern is my ability to really teach him when the time comes if he's still so impaired. Anyone have experience or just thoughts on this?
I feel he'll be 'left behind' in a traditional public school especially b/c of his problem. But, at the same time his speech impairment is starting to affect his cognitive abilities.
Any info would really be appreciated. Also, if anyone's in the Austin,TX area and can refer me to support groups for questions/answers I'd appreciate that as well.
J
