Renters Insurance?
How many of you (who rent) have renters insurance? I rent my house, and have always felt safe enough taht I didnt think I needed it. Ive started thinking lately about fires and break-ins and what i woudl do if I lost everything. I think that insurance may need to be in the future. If you have renters insurance, where did you get it, and about how much per month is it?

hmm... we used to have it when we rented... my wife's place was burglarized once, and when we got married we bought it through my father's connections in the biz. I can't recall how much we spent, though, and this was years ago. It was not very expensive, not like homeowner's insurance, and while our apartment was never burglarized, it was worth it for the peace of mind.

Thats what I'm thinking. If someone were to break in, or a fire was to destroy my house...really I would be out of luck right now. A friend mentioned something like $3 a month. If its that low I think it is definatly worth the investment.

Most insurance companies who offer Homeowner Policies will also offer Renter's Insurance. The cost of this insurance is going to depend on several things. - The Amount of Personal Property Insurance you want to purchase.
- The Amount of Personal Liability Insurance coverage you want to purchase.
- The location of the place your rent, live and keep your personal property.
- Your Insurance Credit Score.
- The Deductible you are able to pay in the event of an insured loss.
If you are a renter and your home were to suffer a loss due to fire, theft or some other insured loss you would be able to file a claim if you have renters insurance, without it you would have to suffer the loss.
If you have any assets and someone came to your home, tripped on your stairs and was seriously injured inside of your home Renters Insurance would protect your liability up to the limits of the policy.
Some Renters Insurance Policies limit the amount of certain types of coverage for some kinds of losses, it's important to read the policy limits, conditions and exclusions to be sure you understand exactly what is and is not covered and for how much.

We have it. It is very cheap and I highly recommend it. We are living in an apartment building and I feel relatively safe, but who knows. Also, there is a higher chance of fire. It is so cheap I don't see why people wouldn't get it! We have ours through our car insurance company (which also does homeowners ***********.

Recently an apartment building near me blew up due to a ruptured gas line from construction next door. Several people died, and those who survived literally got out with their lives and nothing else.
You need rental insurance. You really do.

We had renter's insurance years ago, and luckily we never had to use it. But for peace of mind...we liked knowing that we had it! I would recommend it.

I definitely recommend it. It is very reasonable and as everyone has mentioned, the peace of mind is highly worth it. We have ours through State Farm and it is only about $6-$10 a month.

Approximately 50% of people who rent don't have renters coverage!! A lot of renters assume the landlord is responsible for damage or loss, yet very few landlords provide this type of protection.
Renters insurance will cost you somewhere between $100 and $300 per year.

Having survived fire and flood, I know the value of homeowners. I cannot imagine not having the same protection if I were renting.
Really, think about it. You go to work or school in the morning, you come home, the building has burned down. Your clothing, your valuables, your computer, your home entertainment system - That stuff is hard to replace if you don't have insurance. Landlords might have some ability to compensate, but often not for contents and personal property. Their liability is usually covering injury, loss of life, loss of use.
