I have never been under the impression that "Hairspray" was a gay play. Sure, Edna has usually been played by a guy, but I think its just to add humor. The whole show is hilarious! I saw it twice at the Fox theater, and have never had so much fun.
I cannot understand why gay activists are protesting over this. John Travolta is a great actor, who makes good movies. I'm sure this is another one of them!
I think people should leave the movie alone. I'm sure it will be very good, and I plan on seeing it asap.
Now John Travolta as a person...the only thing I hate is that he is obviously ignoring his son's autism because of his beliefs in Scientology. Let's protest
that, not the movie. Priorities need to be straightened out.
