Default Role playing....

So is it weird that Katelyn (22 months) plays with her little people and little Ronald McDonald and little mini little mermaid like they're real people already? She put them in their little pink car and drives it around going "weeeeee" and "you goin off da road!" (you can tell I say that too much to dh) She also has a little people house and puts them in bed and tells them "ni night" and waves and says "shhh and she disciplines them...says "no no stop bad baby"................do I tell her no too much?! lol She has them fly in their plane and then when she's done....she dumps them on the floor. I thought they didn't do this sort of thing till later.

she's been treating her baby dolls like they're real since she got her first one at 12 months...I thought that was normal though cause it actually looks like a baby.

Imaginative play is a wonderful way for your daughter to spend her time. It also shows that she is very bright. Do you read to her a lot? My little girls always liked to act out the books I read to them with their little toys . I would also provide lots of blank paper and crayons and encourage them to draw their favorite part of a story or to even draw what they think might have happened next, if the author had written a few more pages. They love it! And it keeps them occupied without turning on the tv.

I would much rather my children play with toys than watch cartoons or even nick jr. I even have strict tv rationing rules that I adhere to relentlessly, even on sumer vacation!

I do and my dh does too...she likes to pretend to read to us to it's really funny she likes the "oh the sounds mr brown can do" or whatever...lol I actually don't remember it well cause its the one dh does alot. She'll come up with the book and turn the pages and point and go "whoo whoo" and "Boom boom!" and all the right noises for the pages...it's amazing.
She has access to crayons and coloring books and blank paper too. She usually will bring it to me and ask me to color with her by saying "come on"
She counts too...she misses a few numbers She'll go "one two four five ehh seben ehhh nine ten!!!!" and clap

She sounds just like Jaecy!

We got Jae her big dollhouse for her 1 yr old xmas. She has always done the role playing with her people too...and its funny cause she makes the mommy sound just like me haha

As far as book, you will notice she will start saying the rest of the sentence before you do! Jae can now "read" an entire book (Elmo's Puppies) due to memorizing it! I love having her bring it out and read it when people are over. They sit in amazement until I tell them the truth haha

Dr Seuss beginner books are GREAT for children who are learning. My son learned how to read before he even learned his ABCs by reading these books. But he is also gifted .

Sounds like fun!! She is growing up so fast!!!!!
T won't let us read to her. She will take a book and sit with it, and "read" it herself---talking away. But if we try to read to her she grabs the book or turns pages like crazy and then gets mad!!!!!! We try all the time, but have yet to get through a book. It kinda stinks.
