We have a cat that has an open sore on his neck. He had this a few months ago, and the vet gave him a shot of antibiotics. It seemed to work. We absolutely can NOT afford a vet at the moment (family emergency), so I am wondering if it would be safe to put something like neosporin on his sore? I don't want him to get sick if he licks it. Opinions?
