Default Safety Gate climber

What did y'all do when your toddlers learned how to climb over the safety gate? I am at a loss here. She can climb just about anything!

I am not sure this is much help (seeing that Nevy isnt at that age yet) but my dog is a big jumper and I use a baby gate to keep him in the kitchen. well we bought the one foot petal gate. You step on the petal on the floor and it pops open. You have to be at least 50-60lbs to open the gate b/c you have to push kind of hard to get it to open. Its a safety first gate. Ok anyway its very high b/c it opens instead of climbing over it. It's about 3 feet high. My dog cant jump it so maybe Alyssa wont be able to climb it. Just a thought....

Here is a picture for an idea of what I'm talking about.

I took the gate down...then taught Aiden how to go down on his bum. He now can go up and down the stairs all by himself No more gate for us

I was just going to suggest this-time to learn the real boundaries! What fun!!! (not always for Mom though)

Conner grabs the top corner of his gate & pulls with all his might till it slips free & he falls. Then he's free to run about the house. *sigh* what can you do? They're determined!

We got rid of most of the gates once Joe learned to climb. I had to keep one on the stairs for family child care. Fortunately, I had a step up to the bannister, and was able to fasten the gate right on the edge so he could not get a foothold to climb that one.

Joe walked at 14 months and climbed immediately. Climbing was a problem throughout his young childhood, as he thought he was invincible. No height was too high. This included some trees that went above the power wires when he was 6. Also a knotted rope he found on family day at his brothers school in a gymnasium for older children when he was 5. He jumped the rope, and climbed all the way to the top - without the floor protection in place that they would have used for gym class. I thought the coach was going to have a heart attack at 30.

The adventure begins, Jean.....

I have a custom made safety gate on my lounge room doorway to keep Josh and Libby out of the kitchen and away from the stairs. Its 4.5 foot high. Josh can climb up and unbolt it but it slows him down a bit. I can also hear him, should he come out when I'm upstairs.

We have a gate that is "unclimbable", supposedly. It's completely flat-panneled and they have nowhere to put their feet.

Yeah. . .we have that too. My twins scaled it about a month later than their siblings first scaled our original gate.

we have a swing open and the bars go vertical so i dont think aiyana will be able to climb that. we also have a mesh gate that has no footing on it and would be slippery to climb
