Saga of the SI PMs
SPYCAMS:
Well, I have finally "hit" all 5 PMs on the island - and they ALL have the "spycams" over each checkout. Man, those cashiers have got to be beyond paranoid. The pics I have seen on the employees' bulletin boards are scary. There are 2 "parts" - one praising cashiers, the other a "you got caught" - the one praising shows a pic of someone getting a customer to take out all the excess paper in the carriage (to check for "hidden" items) and finding something - the "caught" side shows a cashier being distracted by someone and this lets a customer sneak an item past the register. The cashier is chastised!!! It's scary - not that they are using the spycams for IF/WHEN a problem arises, but they are looking at them closely for any and every thing the cashier does - as well as the customers. And yes, there is even a spycam over the uscan register.
Changes in how things ring up:
Sad sad sad. Supposedly the sales are only available to those with a courtesy card. But in order to avoid customers getting $25 on sale items to take advantage of the penny stuff, they are giving the sale price without scanning in a card. Bonnie and I had it worked out: 4 Vives at $3.49 (BOGO) and 4 children's Vives at $2.99 (BOGO) is over $25 - so the apple juice, rinaldi and soda would each have been a penny - In the past, each of the BOGO items would have rung up at full price and after scanning the card, the amount for one would have been deducted. But not this time - the 2nd rang as free. Luckily they still took the coupon on each so we got them for $.50 but we didn't get any of the penny items - it's so hard to get an order up to $25 these days!!
