Default saying things backwards

izzy has been saying somethings backwards. like shoe is "oosh" and stay is "yest" it's normally new words that she does it with, but figures it out by the 3rd time.. but shoe & stay have mostly definitely stayed "oosh" and "yest". any ideas?

I think it's fairly common for them to hear the sounds and just mix up the order. then it can become habit or a pet name. Just keep repeating it back correctly and she'll eventually realise that the sounds need to come out in a particualar order.

I don't think it's anything to worry about and that it's pretty normal to have this type of "learning curve" I love listening to toddlers try to talk. I'm almost sad that my little man (who will be 3 in August) is starting to talk so well

I love the way toddlers talk too!!! They are just so stinking cute!!!!!
Tiffany has some crazy pronunciations!!!! Of course she only had about 10 words at her 2nd Bday. Now she has about 150....but so many of them sound the same.
It has been fun.
She is one of those kids who won't say the word till she thinks she can say it right. So not a whole lot of repeating words. She will just use them when she is ready. (Thank goodness cuz not everything momma says needs to be repeated!!!)
I wouldn't worry about twisted or flip flopped pronunciations.....it will work itself out eventually!

Jamie still says bath, fab, Pippa gets words in the wrong order sometimes, once they have listened to a word enough and tried to say it, they do get it right and know the right version even if they do carrying on using their pet names for some things. You shouldn't be worried.

Words are words if they use the same word for the same thing every time. So oosh is the way she says shoe. She'll develop correctly later on. K says goofy things sometimes, too.

I have to stay off those type of sites. I mean, K marches to her own drum and learns at Kenzie pace- not Babycenter pace. It's worries me over nothing!

I think our babies learn lots of new words. We just can't understand them!!!!! Ellamae will repeat the same thing over and over and get mad when I don't understand. Yesterday I just figured out that she has been saying grapes. It sounds like "me ma apes" or me want grapes. She kept repeating it and finally went to the fridge. So I opened the fridge and she opened the fruit drawer and got a bunch of grapes out. I hate the "me ma", she puts it in front of everything, it makes things difficult to understand. She used to say kitty so clear. It was her best word. But lately she will get excited and shorten it to "TEEE" Our sitter understand her better than me!!!

I think that's normal. My kids don't talk yet, but some of my 25 nieces and nephews did the same thing.
