Scared momma, first baby, Dr. says it is LARGE!!!!
I am overdue by one week with my first baby. Before I was pregnant I was 95 pounds, I have since put on 55 pounds, and I am 5ft 4''. The Dr. thinks the baby is over 9 lbs!!! I feel like a horrible person because my first thought was I don't want a big baby they are not cute like little babies. I feel misrable on so many levels.
Any suggestions on how to deal with being over due, not wanting to be pregnant any more and not wanting a big baby. (I will not be induced for another week)
I know these feelings are temporary because my husband and I have wanted so long to have a baby. I'm sure all these negative feels will melt away the first moment we see the baby, but in the mean time how do I deal? It is just a shock to have a little tiny bundle of joy pictured in our minds and then to go over due...for so long...and to be told we are having such a big baby. - Thank you

Don't sweat it so much. Big babies are just as cute as small ones.
Distracting your mind from thinking about having a big baby and being overdue is usually the best therapy.
I've been there. My first was 8 lbs even and was 10 days overdue. He was my smallest baby.

Big babies are just as cute, soft, cuddly, and wonderful as tiny babies. Anyway, 9 lbs is still pretty small in the grand scheme of things. Many first babies are a little overdue, my first two were and they were both healthy and wonderful.

I had gestational diabetes and was told my daughter was going to be really big. I delivered her a month early but the ultrasound tech estimated her at 6lbs 14oz (thats HUGE for a 35 weeker) the day I was induced. She was only 5lbs 10oz (perfect for her age)! Dont stress so much about the "estimates" b/c thats all they are. If your a tiny person then most likely you will have a tiny baby.

Whether you WANT a big baby or not, they are what they are! And they are adorable.
My first was over 10 lbs, and was 23 inches long. Today he is 22 years old and 6'4". My second was 8 lbs 15 oz - lost a lot of weight initially because of a problem which was corrected - but he was 20 inches long, and today is 17 years old and about 5'6". He's graduating high school and wears shirts his brother wore in seventh grade. He's a much smaller build. But they both were cute.
And hungry.
Do not go too far over your due date.

I've had 5 babies and my last one was 9lb and looked tiny to me! Even when they are tiny they really aren't tiny little newborns for very long. My 6lber weighed the same at 6 weeks as my 9lber.

No matter how big the baby, it will still be tiny! Once you see it, you'll love it and think it's adorable no matter what.
Plus, doctors can be wrong. I put on 40lbs with my last and a week before my due date the doctor said "Wow! Do you normally have big babies?" and I said no. She was born 2 days later weighing 5lbs 12oz... My friends doctor told her that her baby would be big too, she guessed at the very least 9lbs. Her daughter was born 7.5lbs. So don't take what the doctor says to much to heart. Even though you put on a lot of weight doesn't mean your baby will be huge. Good luck!

Same thing here, they told me Court was at least 8 lbs. 7.1 not as big as they thought. And no matter the size you will love them and they will be the cutest ever born!!
