Make sure you do some research on the vaccines before you give them to your precious baby.
Some of the shots are not "required" - Rotavirus
also a few of them are for diseases that a child shouldn't be contracting-- Hep B ( Unless the mother is possitive for it)
As far as the vaccines being mandatory you can opt out if you want to after doing your own research. Most people don't know that you can get a waiver from the health dept. if you state that it is against your religious beliefs. Your child will be able to go to school. But if there is an outbreak of measles, for example then they would have to stay home.
We did go ahead with the vaccines at 2 months & 4 months although I wish we hadn't. I personally don't think that an infant needs Hep B. And I wish that I had split them up. At 6 months we did Dtap (Diptheria, Tetnus and pertusis) which is a combo of 3 and then I went back 2 weeks later for the Hib and the pnumacocal (spelled wrong I am sure)
I will be making sure that all of Tiffany's vaccines are split up from now on.
I do believe that vaccines are important, but it is rediculous how many our being given to our little babies all at once!!!
If you are interested in learning more about vaccines and there potential side affects the CDC has a place on there website about it, and there is a website by the government on adverse reactions to vaccines.
There is a great book called "Healing the Childhood epidemics of Autism, ADHD, Asthma & Allergies" by Dr. Bock. It is an awsome book about the effects of the vaccines and other toxins on our children. It has a modified schdule at the back that he recommends for parents. Splitting up and delaying some of the shots.
Dr. Stephanie Cave or Caves wrote a book about vaccines as well and she also recommends a modified schedule for the vaccines.
Good luck with your decision. I hope this helps.
