Last week I just stocked up on some surprising good deals at Dollar General.
I found a bag of six apples--decorative with small beading for $1.00. I'm using these for decorations for gift wrap on teachers holiday gifts. Also may go back and get some more to use for PTO luncheon as place setting cards.
Also found large, really large ornaments, made of plastic in dark jewel tones for $1.50 each. I'm hanging these with invisible thread from bathroom ceiling for the holidays. Found some that match my shower curtains. Some of these at a similar decor store were going for $8-10 each.
Watch for the purple, yellow dot sales. I found sayings like "diva" "star" made in sequin foam and heavily ornate for 25 cents. These are going on girls birthday packages as part of the ribbon and wrap.
Also found a large street lamp, with banner for only $25.00!!! It looks like it would be a lot more--it's about 5' tall. Made of heavy plastic, but it looks like metal from a distance. This wasn't on mark down.
For baking, I stocked up on marashino cherries for $1.25, in supermarket they're close to $2.00 for smaller bottle. Also got the green olives for $1.50, I empty out the juice, fill with vodka and give as gifts. Great for martini's.
Going back next week, as it's a little drive from my house, but will let you know what else I find that's exceptional.
