Another aspect of sexual assault is when the victims tries to protect others by not telling them about their assault. This may be because they don't want to tell an elderly grandparent, or they don't want to tell the daughter of a rapist that their father is a criminal. It's very common for victims to protect others, but it is at the expense of healing themselves. You can read about this common phenomena here
