Which Illinois University is it? Could not tell from the headlines on the net.


When I read this headline on the net, "Shooting at IL University"
my heart was in my throat!

DH and I had just gotten in the door from work and had no radio on in the car on the 20 minute drive home.

It did not say which IL University, and my mother bear instinct kicked instantly.

My heart started racing!

I yelled to DH, who was turning on his laptop. We read it together - he in the diningroom and me in the familyroom on MSN.com.

BTW, DS#1 goes to U of Ilinois, and I had spoken with him earlier in the day on the phone, things were going well.

Thank God that my son was at a different University. Turns out the shooter had attended my son's University.

My heart and prayers goes out to the families of those students who were killed and injured. I did not know any of these students personally.

Side story of interest:
One local student, that was to be in that deadly class, in the 3rd row, center that day, decided to skip her class and come home to be with her BF and her mother for Valentine's Day. Made front page news.
18 years ago this girl's father was killed in an MVA the day before Valentine's Day, when her mother was pg. Her middle name is Valentina. VD saved her life again.

This was too close to home.
