Default Short Cervix???

I am going to cut, copy and past a post I amde to a message board I created so I do not have to type this out again. I hope no one minds but this is a ton of info to retype to more than one place.
The post....
have kept my mouth shut about this until now since I am still not sure what the he** is going on.

Last week at my u/s they noticed I have a short cervix something I have not had before. The cervix is to be around 3-5 cm. Mine was 2cm to 2.5 cm last week. I was put on bed rest last week. I had called Kattie last week on the way home to let her know what I was told. She then googled this for me and came up with incompetent cervix. I am so thankful to have a friend like Kattie who has been there for me more than I can count. Kattie has had her share of things go bad and still she is there for me. (Thank You Kattie!)

I had another u/s today and now it is 1.9-2.1 less than 96 hours later. So they tell me to come home and see my DR. tomorrow like planned. So I think ok it can't be that bad they are sending me home. However I get home and notice I have a message after making all my calls to set up child care for my appt tomorrow afternoon. So I call my Dr to be told I am having another u/s tomorrow at 10:30 and an appt. with a high-risk Dr. at 1:00. I ask about having a cervical cerclage (as Kattie had pointed out last week can be done to keep the baby in) to be told that I am too far for this. Now I did not think to ask does this mean to far in the PG or is the cervix open to far? So I sit here with no answers again. I also asked does this mean my Dr. will not be delivering my baby? I was told it depends. I tell you do they ever answer you with a straight answer?? I may have to see my current Dr and the high-risk Dr. I may have to see just the current Dr. or I may be seeing just the high-risk Dr. Oh and by the way I also have another appt with my reg. OB on Tuesday (next week) at 4:30. My poor DH is so scared and stuck doing everything in the house. I forgot to say that if I had steps in my home I would not be allowed to go up or down them!!! Thank goodness I do not have steps.

So to the point of my question. Has anyone here had this happen to them? Has anyone had this happen to anyone close to them? Does anyone know anything that may put my mind at ease?

Another post I made later... (an update)
Ok are you ready for all of this? I know I was not. Where do I start? We will not be getting a cerclage. They say it does not have proof enough that it will do any good. It is like putting a stitch in jelly they say. Since the cervix just melts away in labor. I am being told my uterus is being irritated and causing this to happen. They put me on Indomethacin 1 every 6 hours. This is to calm the uterus so that hopefully the cervix stops thinning. It has thinned since yesterday. Top that off with I am one cm dilated. Sorry if this is vague but I am warn out but this is the over all of what they said. I am not going to seek a different Dr. due to the fact this is the only hospital that has a NICU and they are the best dr.s around. This is where anyone with problems in the area and in the tri-state gets referred.
If anyone has been through this or can help me with info I would be so happy to hear from you.

There is not much to say. You need to rest and do the best you can to keep the little one in there but the reality is your body is preparing for labor. A cerclage will not help in this situation. How far along are you? And are they giving you steroid shots to help develop the lungs?

I am 19 weeks and 4 days. I am not getting any shots as I was not offered them. I just got home from an ER trip. I lost my mucus plug and I was having lots of pressure. EDD is 7-8-07 At the ER they said everything looks ok for now but I am still one cm dilated and still short. As I think I said before I was taken off bed rest. I am however doing my own bedrest against Dr. orders. I can't see how bed rest can hurt at this point.

I assumed you were further along. You wouldn't be offered shots at this point--it's too early. I am so sorry. I will keep you in my prayers.

Default I know how scary it is.

I had a shortened cervix at 24 weeks with my last pregnancy and had to be on bedrest in the hospital for the rest of the pregnancy. Thankfully our baby was born healthy. I am now 13 weeks pregnant with our second child and just had a cerclage.
If you still have any questions, please let me know!
