Ellamae has another ear infection. She hadn’t nursed in 4 days, and then all of a sudden she wanted to nurse to sleep. Can’t imagine I have much milk! I just think she likes it for comfort and to help relieve ear pressure. She always wants to nurse while sleeping when she has an ear infection. She slept ok but did whimper and cry out “owie” a few times. Then she got a fever today. So I took her to the doctor. They gave her a stronger antibiotic this time and want to see her back in 2 weeks.
did you know that babies who nurse while sleeping are very prone to ear infections because when they are lying down the milk travels to their ear canals, up through the nasal passages (my doc explained this years ago, i did this with my son, so it may not be perfectly exact..sorry) I know this post is old but thought you might be interested.
