Our cat Sherman was lethargic & wouldn't eat or drink. I brought him to the vet, they couldn't find anything wrong, he was just a little dehydrated and temp was high/normal. They sent him home with medication to increase his appetite and some canned food. He was better in 48 hours. That was about a month ago.

Recently he has been sticking his tongue out. I read that this could be sign of a mouth problem. So today I took him to the vet and he needs 1 or 2 teeth pulled. They will put him under, clean his teeth, and pull any that need it. He behaves so well for the vet, he let her look and poke around without any problems. I tried to look this weekend and he put up such a fight! The after care will be antibiotics, dental rinse, and a follow up visit 10-14 days after. He is scheduled for next Tues to have the work done. The right side of his mouth was so red and swollen. He will be on a canned food diet for awhile. I will keep his dry food out just in case he wants some. The vet said he could eat on the left side of his mouth if he wanted to.

I am a little surprised on how much the estimate was, I wasn't expecting it to cost that much. 44$ for today's visit, 340$ for the procedure, plus follow up visits. It will cost more than when my husband had all four wisdom teeth pulled. But it will be worth it. Because of the cost I may ask them to pull both of the teeth. I don't want to have to come back in a year to have the questionable one pulled. They both were so red and inflamed. It looked like it really hurt. What do you think?
