Default Simple Stromboli Recipe

Simple Stromboli (makes 2)

1 Pillsbury Pizza Crust
Flour for dusting
Sliced Pepperoni
Shredded Mozzarella

Preheat oven to 400.
Unroll pizza crust onto floured cutting board and roll out into large rectangle approximately ˝ the thickness of the original crust. Find the center of the longest side and cut the crust into two rectangles. Each rectangle will be 1 stromboli crust.

Spread shredded mozzarella lengthwise along the center third of the crust. I like to go heavy on the cheese, but bear in mind that you’ll need to seal this up into a tube shape. On top of the mozzarella, layer pepperoni slices. 14 slices usually does the trick for a pepperoni lover.

Once you’ve placed your fillings, fold one side of the crust over the fillings and brush the edge with water before bringing the other side over to seal the dough into a tube shape. Once you’ve sealed the sides, dab the open ends with water and roll approximately ˝ inch over onto itself and pinch to seal.

Carefully turn the sealed stromboli over (sealed side down) and place it on a pizza stone or greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Let cool 5 minutes before serving. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

YUM! That would be such a big hit with my kids! I love easy dinner ideas, thanks!

Oh, and by the way, that betty crocker web site you directed me to has been a lifesaver.

It is a really quick one. My husband loves it.
You may find it provides more than 2 servings, depending on how much your kids eat. My husband usually eats 1 1/2 and I'll eat 1/2 and be stuffed.

I love this! I used a similar recipe once, but instead of going the easy way with the pizza crust, I mixed up a crust with Bisquick. Will definitely use the pizza crust next time!

Yeah, the pizza crust dough doesn't get as thick and doughy like a bisquick crust might. It comes out thinner and crispier and works well for dipping as it doesn't crumble.
