Question So uncomfortable *TMI*

I was told by my doctor not to push at all when going potty... Because I will tear my stitches. I haven't gone since Monday and its to the point I don't even want to eat. I don't get hungry lol I do have to go..it's right there it just won't come out. Does anyone know if suppositories (sp?) are safe during pregnancy?

I would imagine that a suppository is not such a great idea in your case because it could/would cause spasms thus (I would think) tearing the stitches. Why not try drinking some metamucil or lots of water and eating fruit. I think I'd stop taking the pre-natals for a day or two as well and see if that doesn't help.

Prune juice 1/4 cup, heat it in the microwave.
Follow by 1 cup of hot water (like for hot tea).

Drink it back to back.

I think apple juice is supposed to work as well. Also, they had wanted me to take an OTC med with the iron pills I was on (can't remember the name, but a pharmacist would know) to help "regulate" - luckily I didn;t have such a problem and never bought the pills.
Maybe your DR can recommend something safe??

Ok I've been doing metamucil and tons of fruit. I will also take a break from the pre-natals. Its just...something is stuck at the opening I know that is super way too much tmi!! It's gross...I will try to get more water in though and will do the prune juice & hot water too!
Thank you both!!!

Ask your doc if you can try some Miralax. That stuff is like magic! But I don't know if it is safe during pregnancy or not.

I had to be on iron as well and I took Colace. It's a stool softener and is safe during pregnancy. Ask your dr. about this and some possible other alternatives. I'm sorry that you are uncomfortable!
