Lightbulb Something FUN to bring family closer!

Something fun that I started doing a few years ago with my boys (who are now almost 9 and almost 11 years old) is this:
You've got Mail!!!!
We had everyone in the family (including mom and dad) decorate a piece of paper any way they wanted but with their name on it somewhere. This would then be taped onto the bedroom doors of each family member to be their "mailbox". ( leave the top open, tape the sides and bottom, you could also use a large manilla envelope or file foler taped on the sides) These mailboxes have become a source of great love and fun in our family. I have even found some very sweet notes that the boys have written to one another that tell of their love for each other. They also leave each other "tips" on how to win at a particular PSP or game boy game!! lol! Now, mind you, my boys are NORMAL brothers and fuss at eachother just like any other brothers/siblings do! But this has been a great way to bring a little fun into the home! I have some very special notes that I have saved from them that I wouldnt have otherwise. For younger members who cant write, let them draw a picture or leave something special in someones mailbox!! have fun with this!!!

That sounds like so much fun. My kids love to write me letters and draw me pictures. I bet the would love to get some in return. I love to hear ways to make our families closer. Welcome to our little community!

This is a great idea. I think that we will do something along the same lines. Thanks for sharing!

This really IS a fun activity; and its also great for those of us who like to save little snippets and notes that are special to them. We really have alot of fun with this!!
Reminds me.......I better get some mail in the boxes before the boys get home from school! my youngest is always asking if he got any mail, and Im always a bit guilty if i havent!! lol

That is a really cute idea. My daughter loves to check the mailbox everyday. So that would be something she would definitly enjoy.
We have a little tradition that we just started in our home. It's called the giggle box. I have a 17 month old and a almost six year old. Well my daughter always has something funny or cute that comes out of her mouth. I don' t always have time to write it down in the baby book. So what I do is write it down on any piece of paper and put it in the giggle box. That way whan their older we can go thruogh them and have a good laugh!

Great idea! I'd have to resist the urge to put in little notes like, "Wasn't it your turn to take out the trash?" Ha, ha. Sounds like you are a fun mom.

What a wonderful idea!!! I too would have to resist asking if the trash had been taken out. I think that the fun the kids could have especially during the summer making up mail and maybe even packages like the UPS man could occupy my kids for a while. Thanks for the idea!

woohoo Diva it's so great to see you here
I love this idea. I think that we could use something like this, we certainly need to hear some more affirmations in our home.
writerchick .. you're right it would be so tempting to put in little notes like that
I think that this might be our next FHE task
Thanks for the idea Diva!
