My name is Amanda, I recently found out I was pregnant, I am stoked!!! This will be my second baby. Well, today I went to the doctors and had a vaginal ultrasound taken, they kept checking out my uterus over the baby, so I said is something wrong? They couldn't tell me anything. So I waited patiently for the doctor.
Come to find out I have a heart shaped uterus, which is known as Bicornuate Uterus. I have never heard of anything in my life so I was shocked.
I recently 2 wks prior to this appt was in the ER with cramping and bleeding and asked if it had something to do with it, it very much could.
In the ultrasound it showed two egg sacks but only one fetus. So could have had twins. I was surprised as well. and a little bummed with all this floating around in my mind.
Which brings me to this..My daugher Grace was born 2 23 06. She was over due they said because of how her skin looked. it was a little peely. She weighed 4lbs and 6 oz. All the drs. there kept hounding me, did you smoke? did you take something while pregnant you werent suppose to? did you or do you have any diseases we need to know about? I was like NO NO NO NO. I felt so guilty and they all thought I had done something wrong to my baby while carrying her.
They never once thought of this possibility. when she was born everyone was astonished by my umbilical cord, it was sooo tiny and thin, very ab normal. And my placenta was big. With her I had gaine 50 lbs. So the dr and i just thought wow this will be a big baby.
Today found out this could be the reason why. I did some research and discovered alot, that happend with Grace was because of this birth defect i have.
Im keeping my hopes high and just praying for the best. I dont want to miscarry. this just goes out to all the women who have asked the questions about having this same thing and wondered.
With my first child I had a REGULAR Vaginal Delivery and she wasn't breech. So I hope the same happens but without the growth retardation.
