Default Stephen King Books

I guess there are whole websites devoted to this, but Stephen King has got to be one of the most popular authors of all time. What do you think of the Darktower series? What are some of your favorites of his titles? And do you think the movies do his books justice?

Rarely have I found any of the movies do his work justice, though there are exceptions.

The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Stand By Me were all excellent representations of his books. The problem with King's books is that they are sometimes hard to translate to screen.

The Darktower series is the few books of King's that I haven't read. My favorites are The Stand, Salem's Lot, and Desperation.

I still like Fire Starter the best. The movie was pretty true to the book. I've read many but remember a couple of his short stories the best. Did you ever read the short story about the late fall swim to the raft? Creepy!

Read The Cell last month. Will most likely do a review of it on the Media Review blog, but in short, the lead up was great, the end was a bit disappointing.

Still, I really like the way King writes. If you ever get a chance to check out his column in Entertainment Weekly, do it. He's usually very irreverant and is a fan of so much out there in the world of media that it's completely entertaining to read.
