Default Still getting used to Texas :o

Well, we have been in TX over two months now and one ** the things that is new to us, having lived in MO all our lives is the small wildlife. In MO we would usually see toads, frogs, all manner ** bugs and birds. Here in TX, we **ten see small lizards scurrying up and down the outside walls ** our brick home.

Well, last night we had been struggling to get all 4 kiddos into bed, they just seemed super rambunctious and awake, most likely because we stayed up late watching the Olympics, . Well we finally get them to bed and I am just drifting **f when I hear a screech coming from that direction. I jump up and march over their ready to give one ** the six year old twins a good tongue lashing (DH close on my heels) and lo and behold it ws my 15 year old dd standing in the hallway looking very startled. "MOM-THERE IS A LIZARD IN MY BED!!!"

I couldn't believe it! We never even saw lizards in the wild in the Midwest, let alone in our house. But sure enough, there was a little 3 or 4 inch lizard right in the middle ** her bed, under the covers!!
Thankfully, DH managed to catch it and release it in the back yard. So this morning the kids and I looked it up on the Internet and it turns out it was a Texas banded gecko. My son wants to go to the library and check out a book about the native wildlife here in TX . I think we will go this afternoon .
