strange baby names
I think I'll be opening a can of worms here, but here goes anyway! I hear of so many babies being given names that are spelt differently to the standard way, and I don't mean Catherine versus Kathryn. I understand that we all want something special for our child, but somehow I think that calling a boy "Jaymz" instead of James, or "Adhym" instead of Adam, is saddling them with a lifetime of annoyance where they are obliged to spell their names on every occasion, or correct other's mistakes. It's a bit different when a child's name is unusual and needs to be spelled out for that reason, but weird spelling of common names must drive these poor kids mad when they become adults. What does everyone else think? Can anyone come up with other strange spellings that they have heard?

Here's one for you
I know this girl that her name is sanntannea. It's pronounced santana. I don't know why people don't realize when their children go to school, they will have to spell their name out for anyone and everyone. I know I had to and my name isn't that complicated as sanntannea, but there are very few Aimee's out there.

what's in a name
Hi Aimee, I wouldn't want to be that poor Santana girl! What a name! Isn't being at school tough enough without being saddled with Ketchup or Sundae or something similar. I'm sure these parents think they're being very cutting edge but it would be an absolute pain. Still maybe these kids will end up really good spellers!

I've heard some doozies!! I actually worked as a school photographer for a year. I saw these poor children saddled with names that I questioned the teachers to make sure they were correct. I'munique(picture what will happen to her job applications), King, David D.Davidson(talk about lack of thought), Rayne Sprinkle(pretty if it wasn't for tha last name), and others like Demensia(sounds like dementia). I kept a list when I got home to see how cruel and stupid some of these parents are.

I'munique takes the cake!! What are these people thinking? They obviously think it's funny and amusing (to them) without thinking of the impact on these kids for the rest of their lives. We recently has a chuckle over this one in our local paper: "Charlize Angel". Also this clanger: "Ditch Brown"! Sounds like something out of a soap opera (and a very bad one at that!)

I have heard the name Wynde (sounds like Windy) Waters. I went to youth group with her. I also know a Summer Long and an April Paradise. I crack up at the names people give their kids.

oh dear
Oh dear! If he's unhappy at 7, just wait till 17! Hopefully he'll get his name officially changed, fancy going through life with that tag. Just goes to show that many 15 year olds aren't mature enough to have a child (although probably plenty of 35 year old's have gone for odd names as well
Greetings from boring ol' Beth!

Another one!
Couldn't resist adding this one to the list, which I spotted in today's birth notices in the local paper. The name is "Lotus-Lilly" White. As a 5-year old, it'll be "Lotus-Lilly, it's time for your bath". Twenty years later, it's: "Lotus-Lilly to reception, please!" Keep ém coming, everyone!

i HAVE to agree that if your going to give your kid a 'normal' name then spell it like that. My pet hate is alissa, elissa, alyssa, alicia, eleesia etc etc. The funny thing is some of these parents think that they are being original.
In my local town the latest trend in to call their baby girls names like; myesha, zahlia, mykalia, letisha, etc. heaven help me!!
