Default Stupid Software

Gotta get this off my chest.

I've been away from this site a lot since the beginning of the overhaul. Mainly because of software compatabilites. I cannot use IE (Internet Explorer) to view the site. IE shuts down every time I click on the main page. Then something happened during the "I can't stay logged in" chaos and I could utilize the site. Now again I am having the same IE issue. Thankfully I also have Mozilla Firefox installed as well and just discovered that through it I can do whatever I please via Families. I'm not sure if this is the scripting for the website or just my cranky computer. MySpace music and videos won't load or play on it either but they work fine on my laptop. I really don't give a snot as long as I can come here and check in on things. I'm not at all tech-savvy. If it works I use it. If it doesn't I don't. Also I have the same IE issue on the laptop when trying to view Families.

I'm just cranky that my programs and computers are cranky when in conjunction with Families.com. I guess I'll have to teach the machines a lesson or two so they oblige me more.

I, too, had issues with IE after installing IE8. Didn't boot me from the browser, just made it impossible to open any threads... All was fixed when I set it to run families in Compatibility View. Check that out, it might help.

I'm now using safari four and a lot of the site just doesn't appear, there isn't a box to signify that a certain area can't load, there is just nothing there. Sometimes it is the front page area which shows the latest posts and blogs, so that is a bit annoying.

I've emailed the tech to let him know that browser compatability is a huge problem for a lot of members.

i use firefox all the time and haven't had any issues with either my mac (OS x) or laptop (hp - vista)

however i wonder if those having IE issues has anything to do with the announcement last week about the heightened security issue with IE?

Good point actually, plus safari has more set security settings than FF as well.

I use firefox and have no issues with the site other than quotes and smilies not appearing as they should.

I know this is huge ask but i need a list of all the problems you've encountered and what browsers your using.

I need specifics so the tech can address these issues.

- which browser and platform (mac/pc)
- URL where issue is seen
- description of problem
