Default Sunburn

Does anyone know if your are most likely to burn than tan? I have gone out to the beach (last monday and yesterday) and came back with severe sunburn both times. I used an SPF of 25 last monday and an SPF of 50 yesterday. My legs are so burnt it feels like my skin is tight and stretching when I walk. I tried aloe, cocoa butter, and an oatmeal bath. No relief!! I dont usually get sunburn, so pregnancy is the only thing I can think of.

I think you are right that you are more susceptible to UV rays when pregnant. Not sure if it is hormones etc.
Hoping your pain eases - poor thing.
A nice cold shower will help take the heat out and then just keep as cool as possible. I used to use ice packs in a tea towel after a shower.

It's another effect of the PG. I've been the same way lately. I ended up getting Sun Poisoning a few wks ago, and I was even wearing SPF 65. I NEVER burn either.
For the Burn and Skin tightness, try Using Baby Oil as soon as you get out of the shower and if you have someone to help, potatoe skins or cornstarch paste to help with the burn.
Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon.

Not sure about how strong the sun is in the States, but here it's pretty strong.
I have heard that tomato slices on the skin help to relieve the burn, also soaking a face washer or towel in cold milk and then placing it on the sunburn could help.
Hope your feeling better soon.

Agreed!!! We all took a vacation to Mexico a few months ago and I slathered on SPF 50 for all of the days, and was fine. But on the last day, when I was still white as a ghost, I decided to lower to SPF 25 or so, and I got soooo burnt in just a few hours! It was horrible, and I was miserable! I used to wear SPF 15, or even nothing, and get nice and tan, but that was not the case! Granted, the sun in Mexico is a different story than it is in MN! But in any case, I knew that being pregnant had something to do with it!

What you use to dry dishes
Its amazing how big the language barrier is between the US and Australia.

If you can get your hands on some tea tree oil, that will help soothe your skin, keep it hydrated and also will help it heal faster.
