Default Teens and Sex

I found this great site for teens and parents for getting information on teens and sex.
http://www.cfoc.org/411AboutSex/
Information on abstinence and how to know if you're ready for sex (teens):
http://www.cfoc.org/TeenGuide/Abstinence/
STDs
http://www.cfoc.org/411AboutSex/STDsandteens/

In reading the section on STDs, what I found scarier than 1/4 (which is up from the reports of 1/6 from when I was a young teen), is how many STDs are stransmitted from teens NOT having just "sex" but oral sex!:
Herpes (no cure)
Clamydia
Gonorrhea
Syphilis
Genital Warts (HPV) (no cure)

My concern with teens who are not wanting to have "sex" will increasingly engage in other unsafe behavior of this kind leaving them with diseases they weren't aware they could contract.

That website sucks! I have never heard anyone ever say the phrase, "Abstinence Rocks!!!!"

I spent all day yesterday researching birth control and I found many websites I like way more. I'll share what I found with you.

! Tara, to be honest, I DID think the same thing about the cheezy comments. However, the site is clean and informative nonetheless. The material is ULTRA safe .

Well, Tara, you've shared what you'd rather see in a site. I didn't know you were the ultimate authority on what is lame and what's not. You can take what you want from the site or just leave it. This is a family site though and if you want graphic details there are plenty of places to get that information. Cheezy or not, there are great facts. Glad you took the time to look at it.

I would prefer Tara's resources. They go into much more detail. I have a similar list that I gave to my daughters.

I understand. Though some here are fond of a certain org. that supports abortions, I personally am not. I think any org that has a motive to make money off people in such a vulnerable position is hardly a neurtral perspective when it comes to support and unbias information on the subjects. That's just my opinion. By the way, this org. was encouraging my mom forward with the abortion of me.

Also, one of the resourses provided gave a lot of very detailed information which I understand RainbowMomma by another post that you are supportive of. I however, don't feel teens need to be sexualized more than they are and that was the opinion I got when I initially checked out the link.

I have a lot of respect for Tara. I am so appreciative that she as a teen would be so proactive in provideing information for this site.

Wink other sites

I found this site for teen health as well. Though I would add it http://www.urhealthstyle.com/ . It dabbles with sex and pregnancy too
