Default teething or ears?

Ok, so Kal had a fever one 102.3 last week and then a tooth broke thru the same day.

This week he has had fevers between 101 and 103 for like 4 days in a row. They come and go and will come down with Tylenol or Motrin. And i know another tooth is trying to poke thru. But this time his nose is running and one of his eyes are goopy and green. He isn't sleeping or eating normally either. I did notice that he was rubbing his ears today during and after his bottle.

My other kids never had any teething symptoms. They would be fine and then suddenly a tooth would be there.

So, should i just wait til this other tooth cuts thru? Or should i call or take him in????

Any and all suggestions would be awesome!

Take him in!!

Those are all the SAME signs Kaydee had when she got her ear infection last week. Especially the runny eyes adn rubbing the ears...the teeth could be AFFECTING the ears, but it probably has a little infection in there!

GL!

I agree. K ALWAYS grabs her ears; it is her comfort thing and a bold sign that she's tired! But, if that isn't his norm- I'd bet he has an ear infection!

Hope he feels better soon!

For goopy green eyes with a fever I would call your pediatrician. My son had a cellulitus infection in his eye at six months and needed to be hospitalized. I don't think that is what Kal has--from what I understand it isn't very common--but you can't be too careful. Especially since he has been having fever off and on for several days, it couldn't hurt to have him checked out.

deedee1231- i had ocular cellulitis a few years back myself and was hospitalized for 7 days! Not fun stuff!

Anyways, i am going to call the ped. and see what they say. I actually have no way of getting him in today. The doctors office is 45 mins away and i have kids here until 5:30.
But I will see what they say.

Here any time a temp is 103F its an ER trip. I just took Nevy to the ER last week for the SAME symptoms! She had a double ear infection. I would say take him in ASAP!

So i took Kal in this morning, he had a terrible night, fever and screaming.
He had a fever this a.m. when we woke up too and i gave him motrin to bring it down.

He was happy and smiling and talkative at the doctors office! no fever either, the motrin was still working.

So, they checked him out. His ears are fine. He was weazy and they took a chest x-ray....that was fine too.
He has a bad cold with a fever and pink eye.

What a waste of a drive!
Ohwell, at least in KNOW its NOT his ears now.

Oh poor baby, I hope he is feeling better soon!

I know it can be such a hassle to get them to the dr office and then doubly frustrating to find out that it was not absolutely necessary to go in the first place...but it is also stressful to watch and wait and wonder "Is it his ears? Does he need meds?" So it is not really a waste of time in the long run because it gives you back your peace of mind.

I am glad it wasn't his ears!!!
My pedi won't do anything for ears anyway, he says 90% of ear infections are viral and go away on their own.....he is big on not giving antibiotics unless it is the last resort. Which I like cuz, anitiotic overuse is why bugs like MRSA are the way they are.
So I am really glad he didn't need antibiotics!!!!
I hope he feels better soon!!!!

Thanks ladies.

He has been sleeping for 2 hours, so maybe he is sleeping it off. He usually doesn't sleep this long, so maybe its a good thing.
