Question Tender Loving Care Needed for my Left breast!

When Ellamae first started getting teeth it took about a week to teach her not to bite. She has recently gotten two more teeth and the biting has begun again. I just pumped a blood tinted bottle of breast milk from my left breast! It hurts so bad. She got me really good last night. We fell asleep during a feeding and the thunder startled us awake and she bit me good. My left breast has a ton of bite sores, for some reason she doesn’t like my left breast. I probably tastes like blood when she eats! I have tried different positions and tried to pump a little prior to having her eat (I let down really forcefully). I think training her not to bite will take a little while, but in the mean time how do I get my left breast to heal. Every time I pump or she nurses the sores re-open. Pumping at work today was very painful it brought tears to my eyes.

I don't know...but I would think you would give that side a break since it is hurt...and gently manually express milk from it....I'm sure someone who knows what they're talking about will come along! Sorry about her biting!

I was just thinking about doing that. Maybe just mannually express for a few days to give it time to heal. She just got me really good last night! I have been using Lansinoh brand lanolin and it seems to help. I have heard of soothies? but I have never tried them. I may go get some today.

Breasts are not meant to be a teething biscuit or a teething freezer ring. Ouch!

Obviously the storm scared her and she bit down on Mom. Accidents like that will happen. Bless her little heart.

Also, when she is biting or attempting to bite, remove her from the breast and tell her "No."

Do not just pull her away. Ouch!

Stick your finger in her mouth to stop the suction and remove her from the breast.

Maybe give the sore side a break from baby overnight, but continue to pump it.

Also, mother's milk has healing powers. Put some on your sore areas.

(((Hugs)))

everything to what angie said. izzy was biting when she started teething. so much that we started to wean, but formula was making her poop so much that her poor bum was constantly red. after a day of that, we went back to the boob and she's only bitten once. (which was this morning, we fell asleep in my bed. i forgot she was latched on and tried to turn over. Ouch! hello baby on my breast.) i've heard wonders about soothies, i hope they help!

Gabby got me a good one the other month (accident) and what i did was, as Angie said, use milk on it plus some lanolin cream for cracked nipples (the cream is really thick and sticky so it makes a protective barrier) and then most of her day feeds i use the right breast (the bite was on the left too), only offering the left when it was getting uncomfortable, then at night when she was more settle and less likely to aggravate it i gave her mostly left so supply wouldn't drop too much, it healed in about 2 days (at least healed enough that it wasn't painful to BF anymore)

Gabby started actually biting a few weeks back, i was trying to get her to sleep and she didn't really want to go to sleep even tho she was tried, so at first i was taking her off and telling her "no", letting her go for a few minutes (during that few minutes i would hold her and rock her as she wasn't allow to play like she wanted - she didn't like that) then i would put her back on, only to have her bite me almost straight away, in the end i gave up putting her asleep and took her outside at this point she wasn't happy cos she wanted the breast, i told her that she had bit me and therefore had lost "ba" (her word for booby; i have no idea where she pick that up from) and i let her go a few hours without the breast (at this time she really didn't need any feeding) and she hasn't done it since

Ditch the lansinoh. Yep--seriously. It works okay but compared to what else you can use it's not nearly as effective in either healing a wound or in making you feel better. Like Angie said. . .use your own breastmilk on a sore to help it heal and YES--YOU NEED SOOTHIES. Try soothies in the fridge. . .cold always made me feel a little better.

unfortunately i couldn't find anything else at my local chemist, most times i just use milk and just the lansinoh for cracks that really at healing, everytime it's been a crack, or bite, that's at the base of the nipple so everytime she sucks it pulls back open, basically i'm using it to glue the wound shut (i think i've only used it 3 times now)

I did find soothies! Only one place in town had them. Thanks for the help, it feels much better today. Sorry Valorie, I can't ditch the lansinoh, I love to use it before I shower! I have always had very dry skin.
