I'll agree with the Yoga. It did help me. I wasn't very sore after delivery. I guess my body was so used to stretching. I WILL agree that your body does produce something that calms you. I remember being so calm during delivery. I had pushed for 2 hours, but it felt like just a few minutes. My mind was so clear, calm and I was in sort of a zone where I concentrated solely on what my body was doing. My body said push and I pushed. I breathed when my body said breathe. You will do fine. Your midwife/doctor/delivery nurse will help you. I had a wonderful nurse that coached me. She reminded me to listen to my body because I had asked her "how will I know what to do?" Like I said earlier, women have been doing this for a LONG time... and without hospitals or birthing centers. Have your support system present with you. Mine was my husband and the delivery nurse. My doctor came in when I was fully dilated. That was enough for me. Now you may want others present. Maybe your mother or mother in law... or other family or friends. It is all up to you what you want. Maybe make up a birth plan with your Doctor/Midwife. If you do this, make it flexible. All deliveries are different and needs vary. My birth plan was very flexible. The only thing that was different than a traditional delivery was that I wanted to touch my son's head as he crowned. That I won't ever forget. It was so special for me.
Try this site. www.babycenter.com. It has a lot of info. It also has a place where you can make your own birthplan. I made one and then went to my Dr to tweak it because this was my 1st child. I went over everything with her and she advised me on what would help her out. We worked together on it.
