Default testing for immunity problems?

Kaydee is sick....again. She has a 102 fever and a horrible cough that sounds like she gags before she even starts the deep coughing fit. Its really a shame.

I dont want her on antibiotics again! She has been on more rounds of meds then i can even count. Why would she be sick this often? Are there any tests they can run for immune system issues?

Could it be her allergies (i didnt think so with a fever tho) I thought the same thing about her asthma too....the fever throws me off everytime...and everytime she has somekind of infection, whether it be her ears, sinuses or throat....im at a loss

i'm sorry honey, i have no idea! i would imagine there is some sort of immune test, and kaydee should definitely meet the specifications for it! especially since she gets sick this much and she doesn't really go out!

Don't really have any suggestions either sorry..there are some schools of thought that attribute these childhood ailments with vaccinations but not sure...I am still sort of on the fence about all that...just throwing it out there in case you wanted to check into that or discuss it with your doc......I do hope you get some answers tomorrow and that she will be on the road to recovery soon....(((HUGS))))

I don't really know anything at all, but was she a preemie? Could that have something to do with it?
Hope all goes well at the appt. I'll be praying for you both

Luke was my sickly baby he really did get everything going. He had brocolitis at 5 weeks, chicken pox at 10 weeks, rota virus at 6 months seemly constant ear infections that drained smelly green pus he had very severe eczema that was almost constantly infected and required paste bandaging. He now immune to some antibiotics because they prescribed to short a course, to frequently. I don't actually have many photos of him at all because he just looked so sick all the time. I put it down to him being a winter bottle fed baby. They suspected a allergy so gave me soya formula but it didn't make but different to his illnesses. He was less whingy and colicky though. I BF all the others and I honestly do think it made a huge difference. JMO He's now 8 and as fit as they come. Bounces round like he's made of rubber!

I'm not sure they can test but I wanted to reassure you that she will eventually grow out of it.

thanks everyone...she woke up with the fever yet again today I think it may be her throat again which is leading me to think she may need her tonsils out. When she got the tubes in at 9 months old, they didnt want to remove them because she was so young. Im going to bring it up this afternoon and see what she thinks. Surgery like that (tho i know its a simple one) is the last thing i want her to go through, but if it works, then i am all for it

And yes, she was about a month early. I hate blaming things on her being a preemie since she was healthy at birth, but who knows

I personally would be wondering if it is related to being early and yet recieving the vaccines on time. Doctors love to do that to premie babies! I know they think they are doing the baby a favor, but can that many vaccines (live or not) really be good in such a young infant???? I know most pedi's will say there is no link with vaccines to allergies, asthma, add, adhd, autism and even childhood cancers.......but it is kinda funny that the amount of these conditions has skyrocketed as the amount of vaccines did!!
I don't think it is solely the vaccines, but I think they are a contributing factor. Along with all the polution in the air, and the toxins in our foods from all the pestisides........I could go on for hours.
Is she allergic to milk? I can't remember. I know that if she has any food allergies and continues to eat the food it will weaken her immune system, and that may be where some of this sickness is coming from. And kids with these problems tend to grow out of it as they get older, because their body gets bigger and can handle things better.
Hang in there......I doubt the doctor will give you too many answers.
As far as tonsils go, if you get them out too young they may grow back!! I know 2 people that had that happen.

she is lactose intolerant, but lately she has been able to tolerate milk in small portions w/o puking it all back up. I was reading into the wheat allergy, and it may be possible. What the heck is she going to be able to eat tho? No dairy or wheat....im going to be doing A LOT of cooking haha

Sometimes a child will not test possitive when they have an intolerance to the protein in dairy, but they react negatively to it. I know of a few people who's children had asthma and they pulled ALL dairy products and their asthma either went away, or got drasticly better. ( doesn't work for everyone, but worth a try) That is why I don't let Tiffany have any milk. I think dairy is overrated. She eats some cheese and some yogurt....but the proteins are partially broken down in those foods.
As far as wheat goes, it is amazing what a gluten allergy or intollerance can do to the body. They sell pasta made with rice instead of wheat. And it is really really good. There are a lot of products in our Publix stores here that are gluten free.
If you decide to try it pm me and I will give you more info.
good luck to you!!!!
